About
Why we built a different kind of job satisfaction quiz
Most people can tell you whether they had a good week. Far fewer can tell you whether their job is working, and even fewer can point to why. That gap matters, because a job is a large fraction of your waking life, and the difference between “fine” and “good” is usually specific, fixable, and invisible until someone holds up a mirror.
Reflect at Work exists to be that mirror. It takes the themes that recur across decades of job satisfaction research (meaningful work, supportive management, fair rewards, sustainable workload) and turns them into something you can complete in three minutes and act on the same day.
How the quiz is scored
The quiz has 18 statements, split evenly across six areas of working life: the work itself, your manager, impact and meaning, company and leadership, growth and pay, and balance and wellbeing.
- Each statement is answered on a five-point scale, from “strongly disagree” to “strongly agree.”
- Within each area, two statements are positively framed and one is reverse-worded (for example, “I often find my daily tasks boring or repetitive”). This keeps you from breezing through on autopilot and makes the scores more honest.
- Each area is normalised to a 0–100 score, and your overall score is the equal-weighted average of the six. An area with three questions has exactly as much say as any other.
- Overall results fall into one of five bands: Thriving, Doing well, Mixed, Struggling, or Deeply dissatisfied. Each band has its own interpretation and next steps.
What it is, and what it is not
This is a structured self-assessment, not a psychometric instrument or a diagnosis. It will not tell you to quit your job, and it is not a substitute for professional advice. What it will do is give your situation a shape: scores you can track over time, areas to compare, and a concrete place to start.
Privacy: your answers never leave your browser
Everything runs client-side. There is no analytics on your answers, no account, no email capture, and no server storing your results. We do count anonymous, cookieless page visits; the privacy policy has the details. Your answers live in your browser's session storage so a refresh does not lose your place. They disappear when the session ends.
Where to go from here
If you have not taken the quiz yet, start there. It takes three minutes. Once you have your scores, the career guides go deeper into the two things people most often do next: improving the job you have, and deciding whether it is time for a different one.
